How You Can Make A Difference In This Role?

Our Financial Accountant is a key member of the Finance Team. The candidate for this position will support the Financial Controller and be responsible for efficient and accurate preparation and presentation of financial records, management information and be responsible for day to day management of Accounts Payable, Treasury and Tax functions of the entities within the Group structure.

Key Role Responsibilities:

Oversee the operations of the Accounts Payable, Treasury, Tax and Payroll functions including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives
Accounts Payable

To provide first line decision making on weekly/ monthly payment runs. This to include flagging potential issues to Group Financial Controller / Group Management Accountant and requesting special sign off approvals from the CFO

Ensure credit notes relating returned stock are received from the vendor and pricing is consistent with contractual terms
Complete monthly financial close out of company credit cards and employee expenses for management accounts
Become account administrator on Expense payment solution


Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment
Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
Use hedging to mitigate financial risks related to its foreign exchange positions
Maintain banking relationships
Review and approve monthly banking reporting requirements


Provide internal VAT and general tax advice to business queries
Produce/ Review Quarterly/Bi monthly VAT returns accurately and submit and pay on time
Ensure EC Sales lists and Intrastat returns are filed on monthly basis
Ensure the Deferment account limit and documentation is maintained complete and accurate and journals posted for reclaiming VAT
Ensure Corporation Tax Responsibilities are discharged accurately and on a timely basis
Provide Monthly & Quarterly information required by National Statistics/CSO/HMRC accurately and on timely basis


Ensure payroll run occurs on a timely basis and are accurate and complete
Ensure all other payments/deductions to employees are processed on the payroll in line with the payroll timeframes in a timely basis and are accurate and complete
Ensure NI/PAYE monthly payments are prepared and paid in a timely basis and are accurate and complete
Ensure commissions and bonus accruals are processed accurately
Report to management on variances from the established budget, and the reasons for those variances and provide ongoing management accounts reporting

General Finance

Assisting with the year-end audit and statutory accounts preparation
Assisting in the annual budgeting process
Develop an ongoing understanding of the systems and procedures of the Finance Department, identifying issues and escalating
Assisting in special projects as assigned


At point of renewal, ensure accurate, complete and timely information is provided
Become point of contact for all insurance matters with company broker

Desired Experience for a Financial Accountant
Qualified Accountant with 3+ years of post-qualification experience
Strong technical tax and audit experience
Multi-currency experience

Skills Required for this role
Ability to work with significant volumes of data to investigate and arrive at a point which allows an information based decision to be made
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to take ownership and responsibility for the role from an early stage
Strong attention to detail
Quick learner with good time management skills with the ability to prioritise
Works under pressure, deadline orientated and flexible working attitude
