Every year, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) showcases the latest and greatest in technology and innovation, this year's event was no exception. The retail landscape in particular saw some significant developments that are worth paying attention to.

We spoke to Frinos Constantinou, Retail Sales Director, about 2023’s top retail trends and it’s impact on the industry.

Portable Power Brands and Portable Solar Panels -

One of the most exciting developments in retail this year at CES was "the emergence of portable power brands and portable solar panels", said Frinos, they offer "a cleaner and cheaper way to charge up power stations", they are an excellent example of how technology can help us live more sustainably. Portable solar panels are a game-changer for outdoor enthusiasts, as they allow users to generate power on the go, reducing the need for disposable batteries and making it easier to stay connected.

Sustainability, Health and Wellness Products -

Another major trend at CES 2023 was the focus on sustainability, health, and wellness. Since the COVID-19 pandemic concerns around the environment, healthy living and a sustainability grew exponentially from solar-powered computer accessories to e-mobility and wellbeing products, this year's event presented a wide range of products aimed at helping people "by focusing on saving the consumer money and protecting the environment" added, Frinos.

Homecare and Personal Products -

CES 2023 also witnessed a rapid increase in focus on homecare and personal products. These products "focus on reducing cost but delivering the same service" explained Frinos. For example, there were several products aimed at making home cleaning more efficient and effective, from robotic vacuums to smart home cleaning systems. Wearable technology like fitness trackers and smartwatches, also gained a lot of attention with the release of upgrades and new innovations this year,

Impact on Retailers -

So, what does all this mean for retailers?

Retailers must adapt to the growing demands in sustainable living and the expansion of the health and wellness market. ”This is something that retailers have adopted over the last 12-18 months", and it's likely to become even more important in the years to come. Retailers who are slow to adapt may find themselves struggling to keep up with the competition. Retailers who are proactive in embracing these trends are likely to be the most successful in the long run.
