Environmental Policy

At CMS, looking after the environment is important to us and something we strive to improve yearon-year as we become a more sustainable business.

It is the policy of CMS to do all our business in a way as to lessen or eliminate any adverse effect on the environment. To achieve this, we will do the following:
• Calculate our Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and measure the environmental impact of our operations and value chain activities.
• Carbon emissions data is calculated by our in-house ESG team in accordance with the GHG Protocol and independently verified by an accredited third party. This data supports the monitoring of performance against our internally developed Net Zero targets and informs
our ongoing decarbonisation strategy.
• Build upon the completion of our EcoVadis sustainability assessment by implementing improvement actions and continually enhancing our environmental performance, governance and supply chain sustainability practices.
• Reduce single-use plastics across our offices and supply chain by engaging with
employees, suppliers and business partners to promote sustainable alternatives and raise awareness of environmental impacts.
• Use licensed waste management providers for the collection and disposal of all waste streams.
• Continue to improve the environmental performance of our offices and distribution centres through energy efficiency initiatives, including LED lighting upgrades and the transition to renewable energy contracts where feasible.
• In directly owned properties, expand on-site renewable energy generation, including solar installations, and evaluate opportunities to introduce further renewable technologies across our estate.
• Educate and inform employees on environmental issues relevant to their roles and promote a culture of environmental responsibility throughout the organisation.
• Support circular economy principles by encouraging the leasing, reuse, repair,
refurbishment, remanufacture and recycling of products and materials to maximise their useful life and reduce waste.
• Engage constructively with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders on environmental matters, respond to sustainability assessments and surveys, and support collaborative initiatives that contribute to reducing environmental impacts across our value chain.
• Comply with all applicable environmental legislation, regulations and other environmental obligations, and strive for continual improvement in environmental performance through the implementation and review of this Environmental Policy.
