This year, Cybersecurity Awareness Month is highlighting what’s being called the Core 4 — four simple steps that anyone can take to stay safe online.
- Use strong passwords and a password manager: Create unique, complex passwords for every account, and use a password manager to keep track of them securely.
- Turn on multifactor authentication: Add an extra layer of security by enabling multifactor authentication wherever possible. This makes it much harder for attackers to gain access to your accounts.
- Recognise and report scams: Stay alert for suspicious emails, messages and websites. If you encounter a potential scam, report it to your organisation or your MSP right away.
- Update your software: Regularly update your devices and applications. Software updates often include important security patches that protect against new threats.
